The Périgord

Once upon a time in Périgord...

Périgord is a kingdom of "mouth". Its name evokes specialities which count among culinary glories of France. In Périgord the art of living has the smiling accent. From the research of the black pearl hidden in the hollow of truffle to the gustatory caress of a foie gras or nut oil net napping a crunching salad, this is an invitation to the pleasures of senses.

 

Day 1 : Sarlat

Arrival at the beginning of the afternoon, welcome and installation in the hotel de Selves 3* in Sarlat. Built around a park, the hotel is inhabited of all the light of Périgord. Its nice decorated rooms are air-conditioned, with direct telephone, alarm clock, safety box, minibar, television with satellite. The elegant living room is openned on the opensky swimming pool during the summer, indoor and heated during the winter. According to the season or mood, relaxation has its environments: patio with its chimneycorner, sauna, bar. Dinner in a restaurant near the hotel. Night.

Day 2 : Sarlat

Guided tour of the medieval City of Sarlat (lasts 1h30), City with the exceptional inheritance, one of the rare towns of France practically intact since the 16th century, entirely classified for this reason by the Historic buildings. Formerly surrounded by ramparts, it kept of it the outline drawing of heart. You will visit the Place of Peyroux, the Saint-Sacerdos cathedral, the vault and the garden of Penitent, the hotel Maleville, the street of the Consuls... or according to availability and calendar, visit of a place of interest of the area.
In the afternoon, cruise in gabarre along the Dordogne. Then visit of the farm of Bouyssou where you will discover the manufacture of the foie gras : the method of breeding the geese (1000 each year), from the one day oison to goose ready to be tube feeded, the discovery of the cramming, the manufacture part will be also explained to you as well as the cultures produced on the exploitation.
Your visit will end in a tasting of foie gras, rillettes, steaklet, accompanied by Bergerac wine. Return To Sarlat,  to dinner in a gourmet restaurant near the hotel. Night.

Day 3 : The prehistoric Périgord - The valley of Vézère

Free day. You will benefit from it to visit the sites of exception of Périgord. You can begin your visits with Eyzies with its caves of Combarelles and the large Rock, its museums of Prehistory and Speleology, the Shelter Lump, then Cro-Magnon space of Thot in Thonac, villages and troglodytic forts of Roque St-Christophe or the Madeleine, gardens of Eyrignac, finally the famous reconstituted caves of Lascaux II in Montignac.

Our price includes : accommodation on a basis of 2 people sharing the same room, half board, boat trip, the guided tour of the medieval city or another place of interest,  the farm of Bouyssou on day 2.

Our price does not include : transport, lunches, drinks, entries for the suggested visits on day 3, items purchased of a personal nature, insurances.

NB : Between October the 30th and March the 31st the visit of Sarlat and the Gabares are replaced by the gardens of Eyrignac and Lascaux II!
